Delegate Tim Armstead
Delegate Tim Armstead needed a design for a 4×6 inch mailer. He had much to say and was quite adamant that it all be on the small card. I did a careful rewrite to get the main points in the first few words, then made them bold to emphasis the point without drowning the reader in information.
Because the post office sorts mail address side up, what would normally be considered the back is the first thing you see. Whenever I design postcards I make the side with the mailing address the front and introduce readers to the theme. I also made sure all the pertinent facts are on the front so even if someone throws it away without flipping it over, they have the details.
For this postcard, the theme was “you.” People are inherently selfish and want to know what’s in it for them. The header on the front is, “a Delegate that fights for you,” and on the back, “Delegate Tim Armstead is committed to you.”
Throughout the piece, I managed to get the word “Armstead” on it six times. In designing any advertisement, redundancy and simplicity is crucial.
