Poca Valley Bank
Poca Valley Bank needed a mailer to go into their customer’s monthly statement to announce a new feature: an online banking system called “Poca Valley Bank Anywhere.”
At first, their Vice President of Marketing, Steve Harrison, wanted to show pictures of people in remote locations using their laptops to access the service. But after finding a stock image of a man in a tree with a laptop, my mental gears started whirling. Knowing the Vice President enjoyed a good pun, I suggested we have the man in the tree with the announcement of a new bank “branch.” That’s all it took and the VP was off to the races.
Of course, no written pun is any good without a visual pun as well. I added the leaf to the word “branch” to help concrete the idea.
The bank liked the end product so much they will be entering it in a national bank advertisement contest.
