Sprouse Consulting

Sprouse Consulting is a first-class marketing company located in Charleston, WV. As a fairly new startup, they needed a design from scratch — my favorite kind.

Sprouse Consulting has three areas of expertise: business services, political consulting, and fundraising. It was clear from the beginning that they needed the site to consistently feature these branches of service. At first they suggested a site with a “splash page” that would let the visitor initially choose which section to go to. But I strongly urged them to avoid that route. Not only do splash pages annoy visitors and drive them away, there was a more elegant way of doing it.

Our solution was to list the branches of service before the menu and also have images on the top to illustrate the point. Sprouse Consulting was very satisfied with the result.

After talking with them and discovering their vision, it was apparent they needed a design that was classic showing their reliability, yet have a modern touch. To help anchor the we’ve-been-here-for-years look, I avoided the sterile white you see on most sites and created a tan background for the entire site. I also embellished the color of the left tab and form background with an old fashioned tile. To further concrete the rich look I added a diagonal lines.

To keep it from being too old and stodgy, I kept the text and most of the headers as sans-serif fonts. The end result is a balanced combination that Sprouse Consulting was very happy with.

Of course, everything was coded to according to standards making it quick to download and error free for all browsers.
